35th Annual Blueberry Festival

The 35th Annual Whitesbog Blueberry Festival is being held from 10am to 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday, June 23rd & 24th!
Kickoff the Blueberry Harvest Season in the Birthplace of the Blueberry! (For real, Elizabeth Colemen White and Dr. Frederick Coville developed the first crop of blueberries here in 1916).
SO many blueberries: taste the berries from the neighbor’s farm and take home a pint or a flat, pick berries fresh on the original heritage plants in the fields, eat them in locally made pies, muffins, cakes, jams, preserves, fried, blueberry drinks, blueberry wine, cider, syrup and so much more. Did I mention the kids Pie Eating Contest?
Entry fee reduced to $5 per CARLOAD of people! (1/2 off last year)
Old Fashioned Farm Festival in the Pine Barrens!
Blueberry Art Show in the Whitesbog Gallery and Makers Workshop to get hands on in Cottage 12! Free activities for all to try. See the throwback exhibit of 35 Years of Blueberry Festival Pie Eating Contests!
Bands on stage will include many local artists of New Jersey and the Pine Barrens, country, Americana, folk, rock, eclectic mix.
Craft and arts vendors from the region highlight handcrafts from candles, weaving, woodwork, nature painting, and live demonstrations by artisans.
Stop in the Cranberry & Blueberry Museum to explore the vintage farm tools, photos and The Antique Engines Museum and tractor exhibits for hands on fun, ride a tractor pulled wagon out on the sand roads to the cranberry bogs and reservoirs or to the Blueberry Field for some picking and collecting.
The Whitesbog General Store will have volunteer shoppkeepers waiting to help you select your favorite take home items from preserves, t-shirts, postcards, books on the region, kids toys, keychains, hand-crafts, retro candy and more on the porch or inside.
Check out the post office, ice box, old wooden cases, tin ceiling and sit down for a quick video on the history of the village and the farm’s blueberries and cranberries. in the store, built in 1924.
Food vendors include local amazing BBQ, Italian Water Ice, cold drinks, smoothies, popcorn, and so much more!
Kids games, free fun, picnic area to relax in the shade trees, listen to music, play with instruments with our wonderful local band Accidental Jug Band. Try the spoons, harmonica, washboard, banjo!
Stop in the Barrel Factory to learn about local ecology, farms, food, music and see the screening of our Harvesting Stories video collection of stories from the region’s farmers and residents.
Tour the Cranberry Research Substation, 100 Year Old restored Sears Kit House used by researchers and entomologists. Check out Elizabeth Coleman White’s beautiful 1923 Craftsman house, gardens and blueberry plants with each variety she developed.
More amazing details will come from this wonderful volunteer led effort to raise awareness and funds for the restoration and preservation of this National Register Historic Village. 35 Years!!!
