The Rowan University Fossil Quarry is the best site east of the Mississippi to discover remains from the late cretaceous period, the era of time when the dinosaurs met their fatal end. Fossilized remains from dozens of prehistoric marine animals have been discovered at the site in Mantua Township, including sharks, crocodiles, and mosasaurus. As of now, visitors are only allowed during community dig days, so make sure to check the VSJ app and website to see when the next one will be held!
