Sylvin Farms
Since its beginning, Sylvin Farms Winery has been dedicated to New Jersey agriculture. In 1976, when conventional wisdom said "plant American or hybrid varieties."Sylvin Farms Winery made a commitment to the European vinifera grapes. The original vines were grafted in 1976 and planted in 1977. Over the years many different varieties of vinifera have been planted. The successful varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc, Rkatziteli, Riesling and Muscat Ottonel) are thriving. The fact that some varieties have not grown successfully has not deterred Sylvin Farms Winery from continuing its field trials of different varieties. Years ago, two rows each of Viognier,Semillion and Shiraz were planted. A row of Corvina was also planted.
