The Battleship New Jersey will host the 6th annual Vietnam War Living History Day on Saturday, April 2 from 10am to 3pm – last tour of the day departing at 3pm. The event, which includes Vietnam War re-enactors throughout the ship and artifacts in the Officers’ Wardroom, also features Vietnam veteran attend these sessions as well as ask questions about the experience of these veterans who served in the Vietnam War.

A special veterans session, where Vietnam War veterans are interviewed in the Officers Wardroom will take place on Saturday. The schedule is:

1000: Joe Scalora
Joe Scalora, AIR FORCE. Served in Vietnam at Na Trang AFB , working on AC-47,C-123 and other Aircraft as an
engine mechanic.

1100: Matt Swajkowski
Matt Swajkowski, ARMY. Served in artillery. In Vietnam he was first assigned as a Forward Observer. Wounded after two months, he volunteered as an Aerial Observer.)

1100: Bill McClung
Bill McClung, ARMY. Served in Vietnam as a combat medic for a reconnaissance platoon with the 1st Cavalry Division in III Corps for 7 months and then as a medic at a Battalion Aid Station for 5 months.

1200: Ken Kersch
Ken Kersch, NAVY. Served onboard BB-62 during Vietnam.

1200: Paul Hanson
Paul Hanson, ARMY. Believes BB-62 helped save his life during Vietnam.

1300: Carl Burns
Carl Burns, ARMY. Served as a Helicopter pilot in Vietnam. Carl is the author of Centaurs in Vietnam, published in 2008 by Trafford Publishing Company, which highlights his experiences as a pilot and officer.

1300: John Minor
John Minor, ARMY. Served in the 1/7 Cavalry in Vietnam and was in the Infantry (GRUNT).

1400: Jim McGinnis
Jim McGinnis, ARMY. Served with Delta Co 3/21, as a Senior Scout Observer in a Recon Platoon.

1400: William Smith
William Smith, MARINES. Served in Vietnam with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1962-1966 with the 2nd Mar Division.
