Since 2011, Downtown Haddonfield has invited shoppers to celebrate the spirit of the season with its annual extension of the Small Business Saturday® celebration and sales event, to three full days shopping, dining, and promotional festivities for the downtown’s Small Business Weekend.

In 2010, American Express created Small Business Saturday® to encourage people to shop small and locally to bring more holiday shopping to small businesses. In an extension of this initiative, Downtown Haddonfield invites everyone to ‘shop small’ for an entire weekend at their favorite local and independently-owned stores and food/beverage establishments in the Downtown. The weekend is dedicated to supporting small businesses during one of the busiest shopping weekends of the year.

“Now more than ever, it’s important to choose to shop small for the holidays, because when you do, money circulates back into the local economy, thus helping the community grow,” said Remi Fortunato, retail recruiter for the Partnership for Haddonfield (PfH). “While this year has been challenging, our downtown businesses are ready to serve the community safely; and we hope everyone will choose to shop small and local,” she added.

This year’s Small Business Weekend takes place Friday, November 27 through Sunday, November 29. Merchants along Kings Highway and the downtown’s charming side streets – including Mechanic, Ellis and Tanner Streets, Haddy Lane, Kings Court, and Haddon Avenue – will be offering incentives, trunk shows, and other promotions. Free parking will also be available from November 27 through December 25.

Transformed into a winter wonderland, Downtown Haddonfield will be brimming throughout the month of December with sparkling white lights and garland wreaths. Every Friday evening leading up to Christmas Day, the streets of Downtown Haddonfield will be lined with luminarias for Candlelight Shopping, providing holiday warmth and a wonderful festive atmosphere.

In addition to unique clothing, gift, bridal, and novelty shops, Haddonfield offers an assortment of dining options – including fine restaurants, coffee, a brewery and sweet treat shops. Fine chef-owned BYOBs offer a range of cuisines such as Italian, Asian, Mediterranean, and more; fun and casual dining offers include hoagies, pizza, crepes, vegan options and more; and an array of gourmet and food-oriented retailers sell everything from gourmet cupcakes and specialty olive oils to food items from France and the British Isles. The chefs of Haddonfield provide guests an authentic experience with unique menu items offering savory dining options sure to meet the appetite of any hungry shopper.

A charming, award-winning borough nestled in the heart of southern New Jersey, Haddonfield is home to over hundreds of independently-owned businesses that are settled into well-preserved colonial buildings. The Downtown Business district offers an array of businesses that offer beautifully displayed merchandise with unbeatable customer service.

The Downtown is adhering to state guidelines by requiring visitors to wear masks indoors, not only for their safety but for the safety of others around them. Masks should also be worn outdoors when six feet of social distance cannot be practiced. Social distancing should be maintained between visitors wherever possible, and hand sanitizing protocols should be practiced.

The Partnership for Haddonfield (PfH), the management corporation for Haddonfield’s business improvement district, thanks all who have shown support to the businesses by shopping in-store and online, buying gift certificates, taking part in virtual experience classes, or choosing dining and/or take-out or delivery from our food and beverage establishments.
