Update: The 2nd South Jersey Apple Fest, Millville & the 17th South Jersey Pumpkin Show, Woodstown, 2020— have been canceled this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Both events celebrate the fall harvest and bring small business and attendees together at family themed festivals.
“South Jersey’s Apple Fest & Pumpkin Show are mass gatherings and we just can’t run the risk of exposing the visitors, exhibitors, staffing, or the volunteers to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was a difficult and emotional decision,” said Kathy Wright, event organizer.
The Salem County Fairgrounds hosts the South Jersey Pumpkin Show sent out a statement on July 8th about the closing of the Salem County Fairgrounds 2020 as follows.
“Last evening, at our Salem County Fairgrounds Board of Directors meeting, it was voted to close our fairgrounds for the rest of the year. It does not look as though COVID–19 is going to be going away any time soon. We explored ways to keep the fairgoers / visitors safe in crowds and it was the decision of the Fair Board to not hold any more events at the grounds. It was a difficult decision to make. This would have been our 61st year; Dorothy Quirk, Salem Fair Association, Secretary.”
The South Jersey Apple Fest & South Jersey Pumpkin Show events are the latest casualty of the coronavirus pandemic that has caused the cancellations of thousands of events in New Jersey. Current information from the CDC indicates that mass gatherings at large-scale events could potentially put attendees and surrounding communities at risk. Medical experts are predicting that the highly contagious respiratory virus will reemerge this fall or even sooner.

“This is a challenging time for all of us, but with the support of our sponsors, vendors, communities and festival goers, I am encouraged there will be a strong comeback in 2021 for both festivals,” according to Kathy Wright. More information is available on the event website of or by calling 856-765-0118.
The South Jersey Apple Fest & South Jersey Pumpkin Show are owned by B & K Enterprises, Kathy & Beau Wright of Millville, NJ. Both festivals are self-supporting and made possible by the sponsors, vendors, and attendees admission fees. B & K Enterprises has donated thousands of dollars from the festivals to non-profit organizations since 2003.
