On Wednesday, Medford’s Freedom Park will be host to the starting and ending point for the 12th anniversary of the National Ride of Silence. On this day cyclists worldwide will take to the roads in a slow, silent procession to honor bicyclists who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roads. The Ride of Silence also is intended to bring attention to bicycle safety as well highlighting cyclists’ legal right to “Share the Road” with motorists.

The Ride of Silence is a Free ride that has its cyclists bike no faster than 12 mph and remain silent during the ride. Families, couples, friends and neighbors are encouraged to come out and show their support. Participants are asked to arrive 30 minutes early to allow for parking and registration. Participants must also have bicycle that is safe and operable, wear a helmet, and be able to make the ride 12mph/8 mile ride under their own power. Riders should be back to Freedom Park by dusk (approx. 8:30 pm)
