37th Annual Whitesbog Blueberry Festival!!!

We will be celebrating the Birthplace of Blueberries All Season Long with Virtual and in-person events June, July and August! Kickoff the Blueberry Harvest Season with Whitesbog Historic Village, the Birthplace of the Blueberry! (For real, Elizabeth Coleman White and Dr. Frederick Coville developed the first crop of blueberries here in 1916).

The Whitesbog Blueberry Festival is an old fashioned country fair adapting to the times with more programs spread out over the harvest season!

June 27-28th: Our event page, website and Facebook page are the places to find videos, music, links to vendors, live videos from the field, recipes and more!

Virtual Programs: Set in the Pine Barrens historic village with museums, historic homes, a General Store, the blueberry field with heirloom berries, local handmade craft vendors, local folk music, there is tons to see from home! “Tune in”, put on a vintage Blueberry Festival shirt, order some blueberry wine from DiMatteo’s, and enjoy the sounds and sights of Blueberry Farm season and local music, from years past and today (all from the comfort of your home).

This event helps support many local businesses, artists, farms, chefs and proceeds benefit community programs and preservation of the historic village, farm fields, trails and Elizabeth White Gardens, open to the public for free year-round. The event raises funds for educational programs on the culture, ecology and history of the region.

Blueberry Art Show in the Whitesbog Gallery is Going VIRTUAL!!!

Live and Recorded Bands online will include many local artists of New Jersey and the Pine Barrens, country, Americana, folk, rock, eclectic mix.

Video Tours of the Cranberry & Blueberry Museum to explore the vintage farm tools, photos and The Antique Engine Museum and tractor exhibits for hands on fun, tractor pulled wagon out on the sand roads to the cranberry bogs and reservoirs or to the Blueberry Field for some picking and collecting.

The Whitesbog General Store ONLINE will have all your festival swag and items including blueberry plants, preserves, honey, t-shirts, books on the region, hand-crafts, cards, and more.

July 11th: Get your blueberry plants and flats (crates) of farm fresh blueberries by pre-ordering online and picking up between 10 am and 2 pm in the village. Place your order here on our online shop!

Craft and arts vendors from the region highlight handcrafts from candles, weaving, woodwork, nature painting, and live demonstrations by artisans.

Virtual Barrel Factory Talks to learn about local ecology, farms, food, music and see the screening of our Harvesting Stories video collection of stories from the region’s farmers and residents.

Virtually Tour the Cranberry Research Substation, 103 Year Old restored Sears Kit House used by researchers and entomologists. Check out Elizabeth Coleman White’s beautiful 1923 Craftsman house, gardens and blueberry plants with each variety she developed.

Support this wonderful volunteer led effort to raise awareness and funds for the restoration and preservation of this National Register Historic Village and to promote blueberry and cranberry farms in South Jersey.
