Dominican soul food restaurant Sol Sazon opened its doors last September in Willingboro, New Jersey. This small, family owned primarily take-out restaurant has happily served families and foodies from around the New Jersey area with hits like Shrimp Creole Mofongo, Loaded Yuca Fries, Pastelitos, and refreshing Morir SoƱandos.
Chef Luis Geronimo created the menu with the idea of taking classic Dominican dishes and adding his culinary twist to them. Guests who dine in can experience his Instagram-worthy plating techniques, but aside from the addition of his specialty sauces, the recipes remain classics. Much like the Dominican take-out restaurants in his hometown of the Bronx, guests can see many of the food options on a steam table, with other made-to-order options available as well. A streamlined one page menu is available every day, along with weekly specials. Some of the popular Chef Specials include roasted Pernil, Dominican Sancocho, and an array of surf & turf specials.
In addition to the culinary surprises, Sol Sazon has also set themselves apart with their commitment to eliminating plastic as much as possible-using eco-friendly take-out containers and offering paper straws in lieu of plastic.
While Sol Sazon is primarily take out, the restaurant was also designed for families and friends to enjoy a comfortable meal together when dining in. Inspired by the homes and foliage of the Dominican Republic, the interior features mixed woods, plenty of greenery, and the sounds of Bachata and Merengue.
