There’s nothing better on a hot summer day than an ice cold beer. The Visit South Jersey team has been sampling brews in our region and has the top 10 best summer beers for you! From the Jersey shore up to Camden County, listed in no particular order, these are the must-try beers for the summer 2018!
1. Poolside –Tonewood Brewing, Oaklyn, NJ
Poolside – the name says it all. This brew is a pleasant balance between hops and malts that’s achieved with the use of Noble hops – Saaz and Tettnanger. Lagered for six weeks, Poolside’s yeast helps the beer to finish extremely clean and exceptionally bright. The flavors are derived from the yeast strain and give way to the subtlety of the malts. An extremely drinkable beer in the summer months – crisp and refreshing.
2. Farmhouse Summer Ale – Flying Fish, Somerdale, NJ
South Jersey’s original Summer Ale, nothing says warm weather like Farmhouse. Light, crisp, a little bit of wheat and quite quaffable, this beer is a perfect complement to any food you can put on the grill. It’s now in bottles and cans—so you can enjoy Farmhouse by the pool, at the beach or on the golf course.
3. Laid Back Golden Lager – Double Nickel Brewing, Pennsauken
Everything you want in an American golden lager and more. Drinkable, light, clean, crisp, and refreshingly crushable!
4. Orange MarmalALE – Death of the Fox, Clarksboro
This beloved fruit ale is made with with real orange marmalade and tangerine peel. Super balanced, low bitterness, refreshing and delicious for those hot summer months!
5. Buzz Keeper – Eight & Sand, Woodbury
This honey saison is made with local honey from Harvey’s Honey, local malt from Rabbit Hill Farms and locally cultured yeast. It’s the perfect beer for hanging out on those hot, lazy summer days.
6. Summer Wind – Village Idiot Brewing, Mount Holly
This American wheat beer is brewed with grains of paradise and lemongrass. There’s no better beer to toast the warmer weather.
7. Peach IPA – Spellbound Brewing Co., Mount Holly
This brew is light in color and body with refreshing hoppy citrus notes intertwine with the peach. Peach rounds the edges of the glass to give it that perfect taste of summer.
8. Summer Catch – Cape May Brewing Co., Rio Grande
Summer Catch is citrusy and refreshing with notes of orange peel and tropical fruits that dominate this Belgian-style Wheat Ale. Lightly dry-hopped with Citra and Amarillo hops to give it a noticeably American twist, this crushable wheat ale is complex yet approachable, just like the Jersey Shore.
9. Seaside Summer Wit – Glasstown Brewing Company, Millville
A traditional Belgian style Wit beer with hints of fruit and a twist of lemon. Light and refreshing for those summer days at the beach.
10. House Shandy – Nale Brewing, Medford, NJ
Blonde base that’s heavy on the oats, blended with lemon purée and orange peels. Crisp, citrus, slight tartness, easy drinking.
