This trip is marked with wineries, breweries, and distilleries ready to take you away from it all as well as wildlife, farm adventures, and antiquing to open your eyes and fill your spirit. You’re sure to get a mix of memories as you take in the fruits of fine food and drink, expansive local wildlife, and historic sites as you wander through the Outer Coastal Plain AVA wine region.

The site of the Hancock Bridge Massacre of 1778, where Major John Graves Simcoe led 300 British soldiers and Queen’s Rangers to surround and surprise members of the local militia, along with Judge Hancock. The Hancock House can be found on the National Register of Historic Places and is a must-see for history buffs.

Home to Mannington Meadows, Salem River has been cited by New Jersey Monthly as “the perfect destination to spot local wildlife” and “one of the top areas in the state for water- fowl diversity.” Enjoy a breath of fresh air and connect with nature on the viewing platform overlooking an expansive marsh along Mannington Creek.

Inspired by the old wagonhouse on the Brown family farm, the journey started with some land leased from the family farm and has grown to 10 acres of grapes under cultivation, producing 7,000 cases of wine per year. The winery offers private events, monthly dinners and “The Barnyard Bistro” for visitors to enjoy.
