Moorestown Theater Company Opens “Something Rotten!” This Saturday (Its 250th Show!)

The award-winning, non-profit Moorestown Theater Company (MTC), will present the hilarious Broadway Musical, “Something Rotten!”, as its 250th production as its 23rd Season winds down.

MTC will present the 10-time Tony Award nominated Musical from the 2014-2015 Broadway Season on these six dates and times at First Methodist Church (FMC), 446 E. Camden Avenue in Moorestown:

• Saturday, November 1 @ 7 PM (‘Black’ Cast)
• Sunday, November 2 @ 2 PM (‘Gold’ Cast)

• Thursday, November 6 @ 7 PM (‘Black’ Cast)
• Friday, November 7 @ 7 PM (‘Gold’ Cast)
• Saturday, November 8 @ 7 PM (‘Gold’ Cast)
• Sunday, November 9 @ 2 PM (‘Black’ Cast)

Reserved-seat tickets can be purchased at MoorestownTheaterCompany.org at these prices:
• Adults – $18 in advance on-line / $20 at the door
• Seniors & Students – $13 in advance on-line / $15 at the door

Tickets are only available on-line until three hours before ‘Curtain Time’, when on-line purchases have to be closed down to print seating lists for that performance. Tickets are also available at the door one hour before each ‘Curtain Time’. Many performances have sold-out this season, so you should not wait to ‘buy tickets at the door’! This musical will run about two hours and 30 minutes, including intermission, and it is rated PG-13 due to adult language and sexual innuendo.

MTC’s ‘2nd Stage’ production that has a cast of 43 adults (H.S. Seniors and up), as well as these highlights:
• This is our first time having two family members share a role – Nick Williams (‘Black’ Cast) and Channel 6abc’s Rick Williams (‘Gold’ Cast) are both playing ‘The Bard’, William Shakespeare;
• This is our first time having an adult female and an adult male performer share a role, and we are doing it twice:
o Carol Ann Murray (‘Black’ Cast) and Thom Sirkot (‘Gold’ Cast) are both playing the ‘Minstrel’;
o Ken Ambs (‘Black’ Cast) and Andi Drechsler (‘Gold’ Cast) are both playing ‘Nostradamus’.

“Something Rotten!” is a musical comedy set in 1595 about two brothers, Nick and Nigel Bottom, who are struggling playwrights in William Shakespeare’s shadow. Desperate for a hit, Nick consults a soothsayer, who foretells that the future of theater will involve singing, dancing, and acting, leading them to try to write the world’s first musical. The show is a hilarious mashup of historical settings and modern Broadway, celebrating creativity, originality, and the love of theater.

This original Broadway musical will be presented for the first time in Burlington County and is the 36th production, and 32nd musical, that MTC is performing in its new theater home in FMC’s Fellowship Hall in the three years since their first production in November 2022. FMC has now hosted the second-most MTC productions in its 23-year history (trailing only the 78 performed at Hope Community Church). In 2025, and to date, MTC has presented:
• 2025 (so far) – 59 performances of 14 productions by 500 performers
• 23 Seasons – 1,143 performances 250 productions by 10,455 performers

The lyrics and music are by Wayne Kirkpatrick and Karey Kirkpatrick, with a book by Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell.
