MOORESTOWN, NJ — The award-winning, non-profit Moorestown Theater Company (MTC) will continue its 23rd Season with its first of four ‘Summer Stage’ musicals, “Disney’s The Jungle Book KIDS”, six times at First Methodist Church (FMC), 446 E. Camden Avenue, on these dates and times:
Monday, June 30 @ 7 PM
Tuesday, July 1 @ 11 AM
Tuesday, July 1 @ 7 PM
Wednesday, July 2 @ 11 AM
Wednesday, July 2 @ 7 PM
Thursday, July 3 @ 11 AM
Reserved-Seat Tickets (in our newly-purchased black-padded chairs) are available online at www.MoorestownTheaterCompany.org for $13 per ticket until three hours before ‘Curtain Time’ (when we have to close down to print seating lists for that performance) or at the door one hour before each curtain time (where they are $15, so buy ahead of time!). The musical will run approximately an hour and 30 minutes, including intermission, and it is appropriate for audience members of all ages. In fact, we encourage audience members to bring their favorite ‘Jungle Book’ ‘stuffies’ with them to the show!
In “Disney’s The Jungle Book KIDS”, MTC’s 24-member Children’s Cast of 1st through 8th graders will bring to life the beloved characters from Rudyard Kipling’s novel and the 1967 Disney animated feature film, including ‘Mowgli’, ‘Shanti’, ‘Bagheera’ (the panther), ‘Baloo’ (the bear), ‘Shere Kahn’ (the tiger), ‘Kaa’ (the python), ‘Colonel Hathi’ (the elephant), ‘King Louie’ (the monkey), ‘Dizzy’ and ‘Ziggy’ (the vultures), and many other jungle characters.
“Disney’s The Jungle Book KIDS” is the 29th production, and 27th musical, that MTC is performing in its new theater home in FMC’s Fellowship Hall since November 2022. FMC has now hosted the second-most MTC productions in its 23-year history (trailing only the 78 performed at Hope Community Church). In 2024, MTC presented 66 performances of 13 productions by 526 performers, and in 23 Seasons, MTC has presented 1,092 performances of 242 productions by 10,176 performers.
The lyrics and music are by the great Academy Award-winning composing team of the Sherman Brothers (Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman), along with Terry Gilkyson. The book was adapted by, and additional lyrics were provided by, Marcy Heisler. The score includes great songs like “Trust In Me”, “I Wan’na Be Like You”, “That’s What Friends Are For”, and “The Bare Necessities”, among others.
The Production Staff for “Disney’s The Jungle Book KIDS” incudes Producers Mark Morgan and Carol Ann Murray, Director Will Reid, Vocal Director Aurelia Harp (who is vocal directing her first musical, and who played the ‘Baby Elephant’ in an earlier MTC production of this show, which was her first!), Choreographer Brenna McQuoid, Costume Director Ethan Kavalunas, Technical Directors Scotty Minieri and Ricky Conway, and Stage Managers Lilly Shreeve and Gia Ioele.
MTC, which still has nine more productions in its 23rd Season this year, which are all listed on its website, has received these recent awards:
– January ’25: ‘Excellence In Dance’ Award presented to the Cast of “Alice In Wonderland JR.” at the iTheatrics Junior Theater Festival in Atlanta, GA (our first ‘Dance’ Award, and 10th overall, after seven ‘Acting’ and two ‘Music’ Awards)
– January ’25: ‘Freddie G Fellowship’ Award presented to MTC’s Founding Producing Director Mark Morgan at the iTheatrics Junior Theater Festival in Atlanta, GA
