Don’t miss the chance to witness the action-packed events and family-friendly atmosphere at the longest-running professional weekly rodeo in the country! There are 4 remaining Saturday nights to attend this season! Just head south on the Turnpike and keep driving. Don’t stop until you get to Exit 1 off the Turnpike or Exit 4 off Route 295.

The entire area has a real country feel.
Cowtown Cowboy Outfitters is right across the street if you need some new Cowboy boots.
This is not my first rodeo. My daughter took me to the Will Rogers Center in Ft. Worth a couple of years ago for a real Texas rodeo.

Things to do in Salem County, NJ
The least populated county in New Jersey is out of the way for most New Jerseyans. Here’s a sample of things to do and appreciate should you choose to take a trip to Salem County.

Cowtown Rodeo
Yes, there is a live rodeo located in New Jersey. It’s been running weekly for decades, and continues to do so every Saturday night from May through September in Pilesgrove. Cowtown Rodeo events feature the seven standard events: bull riding, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, girls’ barrel racing, team roping, and tie down roping. The site also hosts a flea market that runs all year on Tuesdays and Sundays, featuring hundreds of vendors each day.

Beverages
Specializing in craft spirits, Pine Tavern Distillery operates on Hidden Pond Farm in Monroeville. The county also is home to four wineries: Auburn Road Vineyards, located in Pilesgrove; Chestnut Run Farm, located in Pilesgrove; Monroeville Vineyard and Winery, located in Monroeville; and Salem Oak Vineyards, located in Pedricktown.

Fun on the farm
When you think of Salem County, you may think “farms.” There are plenty, but Coombs Barnyard, located in Elmer, has stepped up the farm game to get the community and visitors involved in the action. Run by two sisters, the ninth generation on the family farm, Coombs offers a number of family-friendly events.

Antiquing
If you enjoy shopping for items with historical significance, you’re missing out on a major pocket of activity if you haven’t yet visited Salem County. One of a few antique spots right in Salem, Royal Port Antiques is the largest single-owner shop in South Jersey. The 12,000 square-foot space, operating on two floors, specializes in Early American antiques, industrial and architectural.

History
Salem County is rich with history, and that history is impeccably preserved. Sites to visit include Finns Point Lighthouse in Pennsville, which once guided ships from Delaware Bay to the Delaware River; Hancock House in Salem, a historic site of a Revolutionary War massacre; and Fort Mott State Park in Pennsville, which was designed after the Civil War as part of a three-fort coastal defense system for the Delaware River (museum pictured).
