Must-Try New Jersey Fall Beers

There’s nothing better on a crisp fall day than a refreshing Oktoberfest beer. The VSJ team has been sampling brews throughout the region and has the top must-try fall beers!

1. Wooly Willy Golden Stout
Berlin Brewing Co., Berlin, NJ

Brewed to visually mess with your taste buds, this full flavored stout pours golden but is still full in flavor. Coming in at 6.3%, this unorthodox stout was created with a delicate blend of lactose, coffee, vanilla, and cacao nibs to come together and wow you once you take that first sip!

2. Oktoberfest
Cape May Brewing Co., Cape May, NJ

Rich and complex, this amber-colored lager is smooth and clean due to a cool fifty-degree fermentation, mellowing as it lagers. Well-balanced with a hint of hops presence, Oktoberfest is focused on the grain bill of Vienna, Munich, Caramunich, Pilsen, and Melanoidin malts.

3. Caramel Apple Brown Ale
Devil’s Creek Brewery, Collingswood, NJ

This brown ale is hands-down Devil’s Creek Brewery’s most popular beer. It’s also the recipient of a first-place award at this year’s Atlantic Beer and Music Fest! The brew is loaded with 50 pounds of brown sugar and rich caramel, and has the subtle bite and aroma of a Granny Smith… delicious!

4. Fall Fest Beer
Eclipse Brewing, Merchantville, NJ

Coming soon to Eclipse Brewing is their seasonal Fall Fest Beer! This brew is an Imperial Pumpkin Ale that’s made with real pumpkins from Red Top Market in Medford, NJ.

5. Sweet Potato Caboose on Nitro
Eight & Sand Beer Co., Woodbury, NJ

This delicious fall  brew is made with cinnamon lactose Madagascar vanilla beans and sweet potatoes!

6. Caramel Espresso Porter
Flying Fish Brewing Company, Somerdale, NJ

This rich caramel leads to bright roastiness and hints of chocolate. This brew will be available in October.

7. Tower 4
Forgotten Boardwalk, Cherry Hill, NJ

Forgotten Boardwalk’s newest season can is Tower 4, a New England IPA. It’s a bright, juicy beer filled with flavors and aromas of sweet citrus, mango, peach, and passion fruit. This beer has a soft, pillow-like mouth-feel, and the story behind it is pretty great too! Also don’t miss Forgotten Boardwalk’s Endless Summer Tiki Party on October 4th, featuring a Mai Tai Firkin based off their J’aime Sparked Seltzer, as well as some fun beers such as Blueberry Wheat Ale.

8. Stoke Harvest Oktoberfest
Last Wave Brewing Co., Point Pleasant, NJ

This brand-new beer follows the traditional Oktoberfest execution with a grain bill that produces notes of toasted bread crust and crisp finish provided by the Marzen lager yeast, which takes time, but is well worth the wait.

9. German Pilsner
Neck of the Woods, Pitman, NJ

A classic German-style Pilsner that is straw to pale in color with a malty sweetness that can be perceived in aroma and flavor. Moderate to pronounced hop aroma and flavor that come from the noble European hop Hallertauer Mittelfrüher during the brewing process.

10. Black Rabbit
Toms River Brewing Co., Toms River, NJ

Black Rabbit is extremely dark in color, with an unbelievably mellow body. Brewed with Black Patent and Chocolate malts, Grains of Paradise, Fuggle hops, then dry hopped to give it a unique and distinct taste – this lager has an incredible roasted flavor, a hint of citrus, with a clean, dry finish.
