By Michael P. Snyder, Director of Operations, Visit South Jersey
With the World Cup in Philadelphia and North Jersey, and the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution on the horizon in 2026, Visit South Jersey is gearing up for a year that promises to be both globally significant and locally enriching. Visit South Jersey, the region’s Destination Marketing Organization (DMO), is leading the charge with other organizations, ensuring that the area maximizes the economic and cultural opportunities these events present. By focusing on small businesses, hotels, and local downtowns, Visit South Jersey is crafting a plan that not only attracts visitors but also supports and showcases the vibrant local community.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be hosted across North America, will see games played in nearby Philadelphia and the Meadowlands. This offers South Jersey a prime opportunity to attract soccer fans looking for convenient and affordable accommodations close to the action. Visit South Jersey is working on a program to partner with local hotels, inns, and bed–and–breakfasts to prepare for the expected influx of international visitors.
A comprehensive digital marketing campaign for 2025, highlighting South Jersey’s proximity to major venues, its affordability, and its unique appeal. Through targeted ads, social media, and online travel platforms, Visit South Jersey is reaching out to soccer fans globally, positioning the region as a prime destination for those attending the games.
As America prepares to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution, South Jersey is ready to honor its historical heritage. With significant Revolutionary War sites, the region offers a rich tapestry of history that Visit South Jersey aims to bring to life for both residents and visitors.
The organization recognizes that the success of these events depends on the strength of local businesses. Marketing support will assist small businesses to help them thrive during these celebrations. Local downtowns are set to become bustling hubs of activity, with pop–up markets, historical reenactments, and themed events that highlight local artisans, food, and culture.
Visit South Jersey’s preparations for the 2026 World Cup and the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution demonstrate a clear vision for leveraging global events to benefit local communities. By supporting small businesses, enhancing historical attractions, and creating memorable experiences, Visit South Jersey is not only attracting visitors but also building a sustainable future for the region. As South Jersey steps onto the global stage, it does so with a strong sense of identity and a commitment to community.
