Pianist Janice Carissa Performs Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1

March 16 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm EDT

Bay Atlantic Symphony’s Poetry & Power Concert is March 16/17

Pianist Janice Carissa is featured in Bay Atlantic Symphony’s Poetry and Power when she performs Frédéric Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 accompanied by the full orchestra. The piece was first performed for an audience of 700 in Warsaw, Poland by the composer himself when he was just 20 in 1830. Considered a rising classical music star, Carissa first performed as a piano soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra when she was 16. She is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music. One of the “Boston Six” New England composers in the late 1800s, Arthur Foote’s Irish Folk Song opens the Concert. Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 4 is also performed. The composer wrote the piece when he was just 19 years old but it was only performed 20 years after his death. An audience favorite, the Symphony is one of only two the composer wrote.

Saturday, March 16 at 3 pm at Guaracini Performing Arts Center (Rowan University Cumberland Campus) 3322 College Dr., Vineland.

Sunday, March 17 at 2 pm at Stockton University’s Performing Arts Center, 101 Vera King Farris Dr., Galloway.
