Moorestown Theater Company Presents ‘Gobstopping’ “Willy Wonka JR.”

MOORESTOWN, NJ — The award-winning, non-profit Moorestown Theater Company (MTC) will perform Willy Wonka JR. six times at First Methodist Church (FMC), 446 E. Camden Avenue, on these dates and times:

Willy Wonka JR. continues the busiest portion of MTC’s 2024 Season, as it will present 38 performances of six different musicals in the 54 days between July 1 and August 23. The final two summer musicals are Rent (rated PG-13) and Disney’s Beauty And The Beast JR. (after opening with Cinderella, Youth Edition, Grease, School Version, and Fiddler On The Roof). You can purchase tickets for these remaining shows at www.MoorestownTheaterCompany.org. In the fall, MTC will bring back both Scenes & Songs (our sixth version) and Elf JR.
In Willy Wonka JR., MTC’s 70-member Children’s Cast of 1st through 12th graders will bring to life the beloved characters from the 1971 Hollywood movie, including Charlie Buckett, Augustus Gloop, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde, Grandpa Joe, and of course, Willy Wonka and his Oompa-Loompas. The beloved score, by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley, includes great songs like “Pure Imagination”, “Golden Age Of Chocolate”, “The Candy Man”, and the various ‘Oompa Loompa’ songs.
This musical has the following Production Staff: Producers Mark Morgan and Carol Ann Murray, Director Jahleel Johnson, who is the first African American director in MTC’s 231-show history, Vocal Director Julianna Banfe, Choreographer Brielle Olivieri, Costume Director Thom Sirkot, and Tech Director Jack Morgan.
Willy Wonka JR.is the 20th production, and 18th musical, that MTC is performing in its new theater home in FMC’s Fellowship Hall. All Reserved Seat Tickets are $13 in advance and $15 at the door. – The “Innovator Award” in June 2023 from the New Jersey Theatre Alliance Cultural Access Network (for it’s ‘Penguin Project’ production for neurodiverse children)
– The “Community Impact Award” in November 2023 from the South Jersey Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, also for the Penguin Project
