“Consistent local support is vital to keeping farms like ours here. We’re just trying to weather the storm and survive. 2026 has been consistently difficult. The April freeze, excessive rain and rising costs have made farming harder than ever. We’re spending more to protect the fruit, while yields remain low. ”
— Scott Donnini, Auburn Road Winery

“I’ll never forget the freeze. We had 0% crops, but the bills are the same and we had 90% less income. You can dress it up and make it pretty for the public, but there’s a tremendous amount of work that goes into it. Support local farmers.”

SHOP LOCAL,
NOW MORE THAN EVER.
- Every visit helps support families who are adapting to increasingly unpredictable weather while continuing to provide fresh food, preserve open space, and maintain a tradition that has shaped the region for generations.
- Heavy rains, flooding, drought, extreme heat, and unpredictable weather have damaged crops, delayed harvests, and increased costs for the family farms that help make our region special.
- When farms struggle, it affects all of us.
- The best way to help is simple: Visit. Shop. Explore.
“It’s a labor of love. The spring frost affected us a lot. We have a limited red wine supply, but we have aged wines and plenty in the pipeline. Customers may not notice, but our bank accounts will. The East Coast doesn’t know how good NJ wines are. The more people who drink NJ wines, the better.”

Local support helps South Jersey farms keep growing
South Jersey farms and agricultural businesses are creating more ways to welcome visitors—from farm markets and pick-your-own fields to winery tastings, tours and seasonal events. Those experiences are part of what makes our region special, and every visit helps support the people who make them possible.
New Jersey’s inaugural Agritourism Grant Program from the New Jersey Department of Agriculture awarded $5 million to 72 businesses statewide. Of that total, $1,595,526.76 was allocated to businesses in Burlington, Camden, Gloucester and Salem Counties. Grants help agricultural businesses attract, educate and entertain visitors through experiences such as farm tours, pick-your-own activities, hayrides, agricultural exhibits, and winery or brewery tastings.
The grants are an important investment in agritourism. Your support still matters, too. Visit, shop and explore to help local farms and agricultural businesses stay part of South Jersey’s future.
