Additionally, 6 ABC News Anchor and MTC Trustee Rick Williams will perform the role of ‘Marcellus Washburn’ (Harold Hill’s sidekick) in the ‘Gold’ Cast performances, with fellow MTC Trustee Tom McHale playing ‘Harold Hill’. Frequent MTC Director Will Reid will play ‘Marcellus’ in the ‘Black’ Cast, opposite frequent MTC Performer Steve Gionta as ‘Harold Hill’.
In “The Music Man”, MTC’s 46-member all-ages Cast, which has lead roles ‘double cast’ in ‘Gold’ and ‘Black’ Casts, will bring to life the classic musical about ‘Harold Hill’, the ‘spellbinding cymbal salesman’, and ‘Marian Paroo’, the town’s librarian and piano teacher. This Academy Award and Tony Award winning musical features such great songs as: “(Ya Got) Trouble”, “Goodnight My Someone”, “76 Trombones”, “Pick-A-Little, Talk-A-Little”, “Marian”, “My White Knight”, “Wells Fargo Wagon”, “Shipoopi”, “Gary, Indiana”, and “Till There Was You”. It is appropriate for audience members of all ages.
MTC’s Producing Artistic Director, and “The Music Man” Director, Mark Morgan said MTC has had State Senators and County Commissioners in previous productions, and current Township Manager Kevin Aberant performed in MTC’s production of “Oklahoma!” when he was mayor. MTC Trustee Chairperson Mark Pinzur is the show’s Vocal Director, Lizi Baldwin is the Choreographer, Ed Cook is the Conductor of the live 15-piece orchestra, and MTC Managing Director Carol Ann Murray is the Costume Designer.
Morgan said he likes to include local elected officials whenever possible because “they get a chance to see what goes into an MTC production, and residents have told us they like seeing their elected officials in these fun, different ‘roles’ “.
This is the ninth production, and seventh musical, that MTC is performing in its new theater at FMC’s Fellowship Hall. Reserved Seat Tickets are $22 for Adults and $18 for Seniors 65 and over / Students with a School ID, and can be purchased at www.MoorestownTheaterCompany.org or at the door. Bring the whole family out to be entertained by MTC, which was named as “The Outstanding Community Theater Of The Year” in 2022 by the New Jersey Association of Community Theaters (NJACT).
MTC will also be performing these musicals six times each at FMC this summer with these opening dates:
The SpongeBob Musical, Youth Edition: Tuesday, August 1 at 7 PM
